Bounce U

A few weeks ago Joey and I had a play date with some friends of ours, Tabitha, Zeke, and Wyatt, at Bounce U. Basically your typical bounce house place only imagine the "Chuck E Cheese" version of a bounce play. It. Was. Insane. I really don't think there was more than two staff members in the actual bounce rooms and about thirty more kids than there should've been. Plus a birthday party. The kids had a lot of fun though so I'm sure we will go back another time.

A Texan's take on living in Nevada

So, we did it....we moved to Nevada. Boulder City, Nevada to be exact.

Jason moved out here back in September and Joey and I finally made it out here the first half on January. My amazing {wonderful, awesome, etc.} parents drove for two VERY long days with me and a U-haul truck and helped us unpack a good portion of our stuff. We're still not done yet (I may or may not have a closet full of boxes of books) but everything is slowly getting unpacked. My parents stayed for 3 and a half days before driving to California for a wedding. Jason and I showed them around some and made a trip to see the Hoover Dam, which is less than 10 miles from our house.

A few other things that have happened since we've been here...

Joey found Mr. Bill

We played dress up with our cousins!

Joey had his Valentine's party at school.

Had a picnic in the park and played baseball
The only downside of living here I've come across yet is that I've gone through two bottles of lotion in the past month and there is static electricity EVERYWHERE in our house. Doing laundry has become dangerous...especially when taking clothes out of the dryer. I make Jason do that now. Better him than me!
And to all my friends and family...we do look forward to visitors. Just in case you were wondering.

Playing Catch Up

So apparently I really stink at keeping up with a blog. Or maybe the stress from the wedding and school and a few other things you'll find out about are what have kept me away. I think I'll blame it on that. Yes. That way I don't feel like such a blogging failure.

A lot has happened over the past few months that I would like to share so for the next few posts I will be playing major catch up. I also have a ton of pictures so bear with me.
~First off, we got MARRIED!!!! And went on a short honeymoon before I had to be back at school and Jason had to be back at work. Pictures to come (I have a few but am still waiting on the CD that has the majority of them).
~Our 4 year old turned into a big 5 year old back in May and celebrated with an "Angry Birds" themed birthday party.
~We were lucky enough to have Jason's younger son, Michael, visit us twice this summer.
~We took a vacation to Nevada to visit family for the 4th of July. Don't worry, I've planned a few posts to elaborate on these summer adventures.

Most recently, Joey started Kindergarten!

I can't believe this little guy I met over three years ago is in Kindergarten.

Day Out with Thomas 2010
Labor Day 2010

I mean, this is all day school we're talking about. He even takes his lunch. This is such a big change from preschool to kinder, for both parents and child. Poor kid is worn out every night and even asks to go to bed! Of course that could have something to do with fighting to not get sick.
The Friday before school started Jason and I woke up about 2 am to a very sick little guy throwing up all over our bedroom carpet. Can you say apartment nightmare? Well it continues.... Joey was throwing up every few hours the rest of the morning until about 8 or 9. Needless to say Jason and I didn't get much sleep after that first one. I ended up staying home from class so Jason could go to work. Joey ended up running a fever that afternoon as well and could hardly keep any food down. By the next morning he was fine and then Sunday evening he walked in his Nana's (my mom) kitchen and once again threw up. Out of nowhere. And minutes later he was perfectly fine again. I still don't know what in the heck happened there.
Now we are fighting a runny nose and allergies. Between all the germy kids at school and the stuff in the air it seems to be a loosing battle. All in the first week of school. But Joey is enjoying getting to know his new classmates and he really seems to like his teacher. I'm looking forward to hearing all of his stories from school and watching him grow. His personality has opened up so much in the past year.
Oh, and his has his first loose tooth! Still waiting to see that cute "missing tooth" smile.

Hoping everyone had a fantastic first week back at school and here are a few pictures from our summer to hold you off until I get around to posting the rest of them.

Calling all Wedding Guests....

Hi everyone!

Hopefully all of you have received one of these lovely save-the-dates by now and that is why you are reading this. I'd like to welcome you all to our blog where you will continue (hopefully) to read about us and our Big Day as it approaches. I'm still in the process of getting a lot of much needed information up but it will happen soon, I promise. In the mean time, take a look around and remember to check back on occasion as I will be posting updates about the wedding and the ins and outs of our daily lives in general.

And just so you know, those lovely save-the-dates you got in the mail were homemade by your truly...yep, that's right, Jason and I made them ourselves (aren't we crafty).

Much Love,

The Happy Couple

The Groom
Jason was born in 1981 in Henderson, Nevada (right outside of Las Vegas) and grew up in Boulder City (also outside of Vegas). He has three older brothers, Tony, Rick, and Gerry, three older sisters, Gunda, Margaret, and Cecilia, and one younger brother, Jeff (big family!). His dad, Don, passed away of Leukemia when he was 15 and his mom, Kathy, now lives in Houston just minutes away. Growing up he was some what of an outdoors man going fishing, camping, and canoeing with his dad and younger brother a lot. He was on the bowling team in high school and graduated from Boulder City HS then attended community college for a while at the College of Southern Nevada.

In 2006 Jason moved to Houston for a while then back to Nevada and in 2007 had his first son, Joey, and moved back to Houston shortly after Joey's first birthday. A few years later he had his second son, Michael, in 2010.

The Bride
I was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Dayton (a small town northeast of Houston). I have one older brother, Josh and my mom and dad still live in Dayton in the house I grew up in. I was in 4-H and FFA, raised and showed animals, and was in band in high school (percussion and piano). After high school I attended Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) for three years then made a drastic change when I decided to move home and go to culinary school at the Art Institute of Houston. It was a major change in plans but definitely for the best.

Jason, Joey, and I now live in Houston. Jason works full time as an assistant store manager at Office Max and has been rapidly climbing the management ladder since he started there last April. Joey is in pre-school and loves it! As for me, I'm finishing up my last few quarters of culinary school and work part-time at a small catering company.
